Ormidhia-Lourin: Department rescue of two tombs (1974)
1974 · Ormidhia
The Department of Antiquities' 1974 excavation of two partly looted tombs at Lourin, Ormidhia, one of Cypro-Geometric I and one of Cypro-Archaic I date, in a cemetery not identified before.
The project
In 1974 the Archaeological Exploration section of the Department of Antiquities excavated two partly looted tombs at Lourin, Ormidhia, in a cemetery that had not previously been identified1. The first tomb dates to Cypro-Geometric I and contained White Painted I pottery, a Syro-Palestinian lentoid flask and a miniature barrel-shaped jug of Grey Polished ware. The second produced pottery of Cypro-Archaic I1. The notice prints no tomb numbers. It gives the inventory references CS. 2137 and CS. 2110 for the two tombs together, without assigning each to a tomb, and the finds are listed under the Cyprus Museum1.
