The project
In 1991 Maria Hadjicosti excavated six chamber tombs in the cemetery at Agioi Omologites in Nicosia, dated broadly to the Cypro-Archaic and Cypro-Classical periods1. Steel describes them as containing relatively few grave goods, usually pottery with a few metal objects or jewellery1. The tombs were in the same cemetery where Pavlos Flourentzos had excavated two others in 1986 and 19871. Hadjicosti published the cemetery in the Report of the Department of Antiquities, Cyprus for 1993, pp. 173–1932.
