1983 · Khirokitia

The project
In 1983 a rich tomb was located and excavated at Anefandies, about 4 km north of Khirokitia1. Its pottery was assigned to Cypro-Archaic I and II and Cypro-Classical I, and included a Bichrome IV amphora 31 cm high, decorated with friezes of intersecting circles1. Other finds were a bronze mirror, an iron knife with bronze rivets, a necklace with carnelian and silver beads, silver pieces in repoussé with a Hathor head and with a double lotus flower and pairs of circular bosses, and three silver rings, one with a sphinx on its bezel, one with a floral motif and one with a pivoting seal-shaped bezel1. The notice, in its Larnaca Regional Museum section, gives the whole assemblage the inventory number MLA 1171; it names no tomb number or excavator1.
