The project
In 1965 three tombs were excavated for the Department of Antiquities of a newly discovered Late Cypriot cemetery at Alonia, in the school courtyard at Ayios Theodoros Soleas1. Tomb 1 was intact and held Red-Polished IV and Apliki-ware jugs, a White Slip I bowl in bichrome technique and Late Cypriot I bronze daggers; Tomb 2, partly pillaged, retained faience heads and a terracotta figurine of a woman holding a baby; Tomb 3 had been completely pillaged1. About 3 km south of Ayios Theodoros, an intact tomb at Trypiti, used for two burials, held amphorae, jugs, plates and cups in White Painted III and IV and Bichrome IV1. Michael Loulloupis and A. Christodoulou are named among the excavators1. The finds were registered as CS 1484 and CS 1539 and were kept in the premises of the Section of Archaeological Research1.
