"Limestone Votary Head"
Description: | Head and upper neck from an over-lifesize limestone statue of a beardless male figure, probably a votary; Archaic Greek-style face with almond-shaped eyes defined by ridges; the lips evince a slight smile; the hair falls to the shoulders in a thick mass on each side of the head behind the ears: the curls are indicated by incised zig-zags, especially on the better preserved right side; a fringe of three lines of curls is held in place by a simple band around the forehead, the rows of curls behind are stacked; the nose and left side of chin are broken away; traces of red paint on the lips.
