Red Polished Tulip Bowl

Pottery bowl ('tulip bowl') in Red Polished I-II (Black Topped) ware; hand-made; deep body tapering inwards towards to a point, but with a flat base; small lug on the rim (possibly a second was on the opposite side, but the rim is now missing); made of coarse buff clay with inclusions and straw temper; covered in a polished slip, fired black to approximately two-thirds of the length and red below to the base; incised decoration of bands and chevrons; rim missing in places and slip is very worn.
