Description

The west front of the cathedral church of St Nicholas rises behind a large tree, with a rose window, pointed arches and a tall slender minaret on the right. In the left foreground a lower stone building with arched doorways stands by an unpaved street. On the right, a two-storey stone house with an arched ground floor and shuttered windows faces the street. No people are visible.

English

The west front of the cathedral church of St Nicholas at Famagusta, with its minaret, seen down a street past a lower building in the foreground. Thomson's note on the negative names the church "St Nicholas Bellapaix", in error for Famagusta. The 1981 print is the mirror image of the positive from the negative: one of the two is reversed left to right.
