Objects: glass and lamps

119 object photographs

Sites: Limassol, Tamassos

This series holds 119 photographs of glass vessels and lamps whose museum record names no find-place. Most show blown glass: vases, bowls, jugs, jars, beakers and unguentaria, singly or in groups, some with measurements and details of inscriptions or handles. A smaller group shows sand-core glass, and there are terracotta lamps and a few moulds.

Thirty-four captions give Medelhavsmuseet accession numbers (Acc.), the museum's series for objects acquired between 1930 and 1954, nearly all from Cyprus, kept apart from the expedition's excavation numbers. Two cite the Statens Historiska Museum.

The expedition's volume on the Hellenistic and Roman periods is in the Archive. Lamps with excavation numbers appear in the tomb series, for example the terracotta lamps drawn in the Stylli series. Use "No recorded place" under Site in the explorer to list the unplaced group.
