This pit has at the bottom been filled with the same dark, stone-rich layers as were found in the northern gallery, and here too a quantity of statues is found. Above this statue layer there is, however, also the sand fill, sloping steeply and lying considerably lower than the floor level. With great care the edge of the pit can be fixed and its excavation can begin. A number of sections are left standing for safety reasons.

In the dark bottom layer, in the northern half of the pit, a quantity of statue fragments is found separately from the bases. They lie most often close to the very pit wall itself.
