Pottery vessel from Vounous with a tall pedestal foot, incised zigzags and a small cup rising from its body — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Csn1847. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A dark pottery vessel with a wide, bowl-shaped body on a tall, flaring pedestal foot. A small cup-like vessel rises from the centre of the body, and projections on the rim look like bird heads or horns. Incised and dotted decoration covers the body in zigzags, hatched bands, chevrons and a concentric circle with spokes, and a scale bar stands at the right.
