TERRACOTTA CHARIOT (Sixth century B.C.) Cyprus Museum "A variety of curious pieces of antiquity were formerly procured here; but the Government will not permit any researches of this kind. Should any friend of the arts ever mount the throne of the Sultans, new lights will be diffused over these buried ruins; and the Island will become a mine equally fruitful and interesting to the enlightened traveller." Abbé Mariti-1760-67 (Travels through Cyprus, Syria, etc.)
