Description

A large cargo ship is moored at a quay, with masts, rigging and a derrick above its deck. Stacked crates are being hoisted from the ship and loaded onto a flatbed lorry and a two-wheeled cart on the quayside. Several men in dark coats and light shirts handle the crates, and another loaded lorry stands at the left.

Dates and indeed of every fruit seen in these climates: it nourishes great numbers of goats, sheep, pigs and oxen, of which latter it has at times exported supplies to Malta.
