Life on the terrace outside the expedition house at Machairas
Description
Three people sit in wooden deck chairs set in a row on bare earth under tall pine trees, with wooded hills rising behind them. The man in front wears a light shirt and dark trousers and holds a newspaper; the woman in the middle reads a newspaper, and the woman at the back, in a patterned skirt, has a pipe in her mouth. Loose newspapers lie on the ground at left.

- Three people sit in wooden deck chairs on a bare earth terrace under pine trees. The man in front, in a light shirt, reads a folded newspaper and holds a pipe; the woman beside him reads, and the woman at the back in a patterned skirt holds a pipe to her mouth. Wooded hills and a pale sky fill the background, and a folded newspaper lies on the ground.
