Limestone head of a woman wearing a leafy wreath, from Arsos — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C04588. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A carved limestone head of a woman, shown face-on with the neck and a small part of the base below. A wreath of leaves and clustered berries sits over the forehead, and wavy locks of hair fall beside the face. The eyes have heavy lids, the mouth is slightly smiling, and the stone surface looks rough and pitted; the print is mounted on a pale card with a grey border.
