Marble Sculpture (C.M)

Marble sculpture of a head with curled hair and a long neck — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C04231. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A carved marble head and upper neck, shown straight on against a dark backdrop. Rows of tight curls frame the face at the sides, and wavy locks run across the forehead, parted at the centre. The brows, eyes and closed mouth are clear, and the tip of the nose looks chipped; the base of the bust looks broken.
