Terracotta Proto-Cypriote I

Frontal view of a terracotta statue head with incised eyes, nose and mouth, and a band over the hair. — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C03310. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A terracotta head and shoulders shown frontally against a plain grey background. The face has arched, incised brows and eyelids, a broad nose with dark nostrils, and a small mouth marked by incised lines. A wide band covers the top of the head and flat side pieces fall beside the ears, and the surface looks pitted and worn.
