Excavation at Ayia Irini, in situ find

Description

A dense heap of broken, pale objects lies on the floor of an excavated cutting, with the soil face rising behind it. Several large tubular pieces with open ends lie among smaller sherds, and at the right a large figure fragment with a head, shoulder and leg is visible. Shadows fall across the pile from the upper left.
