Description

Workers excavate a stone-walled house at Ayia Irini, with rubble walls across the foreground and middle distance. A wheelbarrow of dark soil stands at left beside a man with a shovel, and about a dozen people sit, stand and kneel around the trenches, including a woman in a headscarf with a child. Broken pottery lies on the floor of a room at centre right, below spoil heaps on the hillside.
