Description

A man in a wide-brimmed straw hat, light shirt and dark trousers stands in the foreground beside a small girl in a pale dress with tousled hair. To the left, a second man in a hat and rolled sleeves rests one hand on a long-handled tool whose blade touches the ground. Behind them, many people move among stone blocks on a stony, dry excavation area, with low hills on the horizon.
