Description

A narrow, deep rectangular cut in excavated soil runs down the centre of the photograph toward a dark opening. Two timber beams cross the top of the cut, and loose stones lie partway down where the cut narrows. At the right edge a heap of broken fragments sits beside a box, while the sides of the cut are rough earth faces.
