Terracotta figurine of a goddess holding a dove, Classical
Object card: 1969. Mission archéologique française de Kition-Salamine (MOM, Lyon), Nakala, SAL_5000. "Terracotta figurine of a goddess holding a dove, Classical". CC BY 4.0. Resized.
Fragment of a bust of the great goddess in all her aspects, broken on both sides so that both arms are missing; the left breast is damaged and the back is not preserved. Red-brown fabric with white slip, moulded hollow, H. 9.6 cm, l. 7.7 cm. The right arm was bent and the hand rests on the chest, holding between thumb and tightly closed but distinct fingers a dove-type bird with a well-rounded body, small round head in right profile and pointed beak turned towards the left breast; only the right hand survives, hiding the lower part of the bird. A necklace of beads and triangular pendants, hardly distinct from one another, lies in a wide pointed décolletage, and a bracelet is at the wrist. Classical period; south of the rampart, square K VI/δ4 (east); inventory Tc_1898; 3 September 1969.
