Remove top-soil and the occasional patches of red earth which lie over stone tumble flush with the tops of the walls, at 8.05. The room is badly torn to pieces by two intrusions. Photo Bam. 39.127 at 8.05 Remove the tumble, which rests on loose brown earth at 8.28. There is a cutting at this level for the north wall. Dig below 8.28, finding another brown level at 8.43, and a more gritty level, possibly a floor, at 8.58 The N. footing trench stops at this level.

3.5.39 Digging below 8.58 we find a firm clayey floor at 8.63. This lies directly over the original floor, of gritty clay, at 8.66. Photo Bam. 39:84 at 8.66
