Start removing the white gritty fill below 7.33. This stops at 7.73, in part at fairly gritty red earth, in part at a less regular white level, which lies partly over the red. The white above 7.73 was remarkably uniform, whereas below 7.73 the earth is browner with larger white lumps. Dig below 7.73 in the east, through light brown earth with white not particles, reaching red earth, apparently the same as that at 7.73 in the west, at 7.95 Photos Bam. 39.129-130 at 7.73 (W) = 7.95(E) The 7.73 level was cut for wall II. only one sherd, M.C. Black slip, was found in the cutting, which stops at 7.95
3.5.39Remove the red earth (center) below 7.73. This too stops at the red earth at 7.95 (which has green grits) The red level at 7.95 lies over the east end of the white at 7.73 (E). Photo Bam. 39.131 with red removed to 7.95. Dig below 7.95, finding firm clay with considerable ash at 8.08
