6b/25-4-39Remove the gritty earth below 7.33. It is very firm and clayey, and very uniform. It seems to be a fill put in for wall I (p. 102), bringing the level of room 6 up to the level of the rock east of it, since it is missing in the line of this wall. This gritty red fill stops in an even line at the north side of wall I, beyond which is a similar fill, but pale brown in colour. Wall II seems to belong to an earlier complex, together with wall III, found in 21:13. Using wall II as a dividing mark, we will distinguish rooms 6a (north) and 6b (south). In 6b the gritty fill ends with cleaner softer red-brown earth, at 7.71. Over wall II there is gritty dark red earth at this level. Photos Bam. '39. 104-5 at 7.71
26-4-39 There is a distinct change of earth in the line of wall IV (p. 102), from 7.33 on down. Various layers of red earth are found here. This earth fill ends at 8.13 with a firm clay floor. Photo Bam. '39. 111 of cutting cleared (to p. 143 145)
