17-4-39TRENCH 20 (from p. 91) early pits L.C.II tombs were located in : this area, all seem to have been either filled or converted into cellars when the house was built, probably in the L.C.III period. The walls of 20:2 are preserved in the northern end, but in the south the limits of this and the adjacent room 5 can be determined only by the end of the pavement (chavara in 2, lime in 5), which once sloped up slightly to the walls.
18-4-39In 20:6 top-soil ends at a level with much brick and clear signs of burning. This ends at on a chavara floor, burned black by the debris which fell over it. 20:6 is separated from 20:7 by a sharp cutting in the bed-rock. A habitation level of clayey earth much marked by burning, is found at
In 20:8 red tumble and the top of a N-S wall on the east side are found at 8.65. Digging below this we find mixed tumble going down to a packed earth floor, mixed but generally (to p. 101 97)
