A surface intrusion of very recent date is found near the middle of the room. It contains loose earth, mainly red, with darker patches. Many L.C. II sherds are found in it. The pit itself does not reach even L.C. III floor levels, so the pottery must come from elsewhere. Villagers say that the Br. Mus. expedition's screening was done near here. This pottery may thus have been discarded by that expedition thrown into one of their still open trial pits. Fragments of the pot, p. 116, #1 were found 6-6-39, in Intrusion #1 in the "Megaron" this clearly indicating that they were discarded by tombdiggers.
