Excavation near Larnaca

Watercolour of workers at a dig on dry ground by the sea, with a white tent under a tree and goats in front.

Description

Rocky, sun-bleached ground slopes down toward a calm sea and a pale horizon under a blue sky. On the left, several figures sit and stand among stones and low cuttings, some in light clothing and hats, apparently digging. A large white tent stands beside a spreading tree on the right, and a standing figure walks near the tent. Three or four goats graze in the foreground.
