- 28 September 1870Chaired the Yorkshire Geological and Polytechnic Society meeting at Doncaster at which John Holmes read T. B. Sandwith's paper on Greco-Phoenician pottery from Dali; his diary records that he gave £5 to purchase Greek pottery from Cyprus for Leeds Museum.

- 1870–1871The Leeds Philosophical and Literary Society's 1870/71 Report of the Council lists a 'Very fine Graeco-Phoenician Vase, 2 feet 2½ inches high, found among tombs in Laimia, Cyprus' against Aldam's name. Reeve notes that no place called 'Laimia' has been identified in Cyprus.
