    Named by Masson among the buyers ('collectionneurs') at the London Sotheby sales of Luigi Palma di Cesnola antiquities of 9 January and 1 May 1871, together with Lord Ranelagh, General Fox and Colonel Fox (Pitt-Rivers); dealers Feuardent and Hoffmann also bought. Masson does not say which lots Loftie bought.
