    As Director of the GCI took up the Department of Antiquities' offer of collaboration by organising a meeting in Cyprus to define the scope and aims of the Orpheus mosaic conservation project; specialists from the Department, the GCI and the J. Paul Getty Museum attended.

    The Paphos mosaic conservation project (Orpheus mosaic, detached by the rolling technique and used as a training project) was run jointly by the GCI and the Department of Antiquities, on an initiative proposed by V. Karageorghis, J. Walsh and M. True; Monreal co-signs the preface with Karageorghis.
