Life and work
- February 1891Among the HMS Melita crew who moved the Salamis bull's head capital (allocated to the Cyprus Exploration Fund in the 1890 division of the finds, destined for the British Museum) from Salamis to Famagusta by sledge; he fractured his left arm and leg during the operation 'through no fault of his own' (Commander G. King-Hall's report, Port Said, 13 February 1891). The British Museum paid him £10 compensation, on the ship commander's request.
