- 25 March 1839On the Duke of Devonshire's arrival in Smyrna, the vice-consul 'Mr Charnaud' took him to the antiquarian Borrell, where the Duke saw 'things I should like very much'. The Chatsworth Head, a Cypriot bronze, was bought from Borrell.
