Life and work
- June 1970French mission of the Centre national de la Recherche scientifique, directed by M. J. Perrot, began research at the pre-ceramic Neolithic site at Cape Andreas (Kastros) at the end of the Karpas peninsula; fieldwork was conducted by Alain Le Brun (CNRS) within the research programme of Perrot and H. de Contenson on the beginnings of sedentary life and first villages in the eastern Mediterranean Near East. Prospection and first soundings found circular stone houses c. 4 m inside diameter on the south flank of the promontory; the site was seen as contemporary with the earliest Khirokitia levels and without any pottery.
