    As Acting Commissioner of Kyrenia, took 'energetic action' after the Government learned the Karavas finders were negotiating with Paris dealers: the houses of the suspects were suddenly surrounded and searched by police, and the part of the find described by Dalton was seized (five silver dishes, three of them David scenes and two plain with niello monograms; gold earrings, necklaces and other jewellery; four gold solidi). The larger part had been placed beyond reach and reached Paris.
