    Guided L. P. di Cesnola on his exploration of the south-east coast; at the Catalima monolith (an oblong hole holding broken glass bracelets, earrings and votive candles) he explained that village girls broke glass jewellery there when married or betrayed, and old women lit tapers hoping for cures.
