Life and work
- 1875At the entreaty of Cesnola's wife, Aziz Pasha applied to Constantinople and obtained authority to replace heavy chains (on prisoners at Famagusta) with lighter ones.

- 1870sTelegraphed by Cesnola from Larnaca to Nicosia on behalf of a relative of an imprisoned 'Linobambako'; Cesnola reports the man was released within hours. Cesnola praises his kindliness, 'rare nobility of character', popularity with Turks and Greeks and favour with the consular corps.

- c. 1878Cesnola told Hitchcock he had letters from Aziz Pasha but would not have them read or published as they would betray the Pasha's anti-Turkish feelings and harm him; he called Aziz 'my Hitchcock of Cyprus'.
