Antonios Papapetrou

Cypriot colonial official, active 1910–1931. Worked with Einar Nilson Gjerstad and Kyrios Kaplanis.
Life and work
- 1927Gjerstad engaged Papapetrou to help obtain landowners' consent, which the antiquities law required before official approval of the excavation; Gjerstad credits him with having fixed the village boundaries of the whole island (no firm boundaries before 1910) and calls him an invaluable asset in the first negotiations. Pierides, as consul and member of the legislature, accompanied them.

- 1927Accompanied Gjerstad to Lapithos, where he first called on the mayor (Mr Kaplanis) and the village assembly agreed to the Swedish excavation.

- 1927Gjerstad went with Papapetrou and Pierides to Karavostasi on one of the first days of the expedition to obtain the landowners' permission to excavate at Soli.
