    Directly forbade the Imperial Hermitage's purchase of the part of Cesnola's collection (the Golgoi sculpture) selected by Doell; Bukina says the reasons are unclear. McFadden (as quoted in Life and Deeds) speculates that the Emperor, hearing that Cesnola was dealing with other museums, cancelled the sale.
