The Cyprus American Archaeological Research Institute (CAARI) in Nicosia has two CAARI/CAORC Research Fellowships to award, run with the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC). Each pays US$5,500: up to US$1,500 for travel and up to US$4,000 more for research costs on the island. Applications close on 11 January 2027.

Applicants must be US citizens who already hold a doctorate and work on the archaeology, history, culture or geography of Cyprus. Fellows spend at least 30 days living at the institute. CAARI gives particular weight to projects that would let the applicant bring Cyprus into their teaching.

The same deadline applies to the CAARI Scholar in Residence. That place is for an established scholar of any nationality who speaks fluent English and has held a PhD in archaeology or a related field for at least five years before the visit. The scholar stays a minimum of 30 consecutive days, ideally between spring and autumn, keeps evenings and weekends free to mentor the younger researchers in residence, and in return pays half the usual residency rate. Travel and all other costs fall on the scholar.

Applications for both go through CAORC's online fellowship portal, and the full terms are on CAARI's fellowships page. CAARI's postdoctoral fellowship in Cypriot prehistory, named for Edgar Peltenburg and open to all nationalities, also closes on 11 January. Two CAORC programmes listed on the same page, the Multi-Country Research Fellowship and the fellowship funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, are not accepting applications at present, according to CAORC.
