1959
Carbon-14 tests by Dr Göte Östlund, Director of the laboratory, on charcoal from the Khirokitia settlement gave a date round the middle of the sixth millennium (uncalibrated, as the source reports) for its pre-ceramic stage. Dikaios used the Östlund tests to explain the divergence between the Sotira and Khirokitia cultures.
