History
- 1868Riccardo Colucci became consul of the Kingdom of Italy in Cyprus (formerly vice-consul of the Two Sicilies in 1850).
- 5 May 1869The Foreign Ministry told the Ministry of Public Instruction that Colucci, "moved by the example of his colleagues of France, England and America", meant to ask for a firman to dig for the Kingdom's museums (through the legation at Constantinople).
- 18 November 1870Colucci reported permission to dig "in some localities" and finds of "Phoenician civilisation"; announced a shipment of four baskets with 130 pieces. A second shipment of five cases followed (letter of 15 February 1871). About 244 objects in all.
- September 1872At the end of September 1872 Colucci was transferred to Scutari; he later complained that Palma di Cesnola may have had a hand in it.
