  1. August 1931
    Georgios Soteriou, director of the Byzantine and Christian Museum, was sent by the Academy of Athens to Cyprus to study Byzantine monuments and help create a Cyprus Byzantine Museum; he published The Byzantine Monuments of Cyprus vol. 1 in 1935 (the text volume never appeared).
