The project
In 2002 the opening of a new road north of Yeroskipou brought to light Early Christian structures at Agioi Pente, and the Department of Antiquities of Cyprus made a brief investigation under Eustathios Raptou, then Archaeological Officer for Paphos1. By the time the authorities were informed, heavy machinery had bulldozed away most of the remains2. The Department investigated two mosaic floors and a large tomb, whose entire interior was lined with Proconnesian marble2. According to Demetrios Michaelides, the tomb contained a small golden reliquary (encolpion) and apparently remnants of textile1.
