The project
In 1977 M. Loulloupis directed a Cyprus Survey investigation of a tomb in a recently discovered cemetery at Perakhorio, Nisou1,2. The annual report of the Department of Antiquities lists it as tomb 1 and describes it as partly looted. It contained substantial pottery that the report dates to Late Cypriot I-II, with White Slip I, Red Polished IV and White Painted V-VI wares, among them two zoomorphic vases. The White Slip I pieces include a jug (CS. 2414/85), a large deep bowl (CS. 2414/88) and a small bowl of unusual shape2.
Hans-Günter Buchholz later places the tomb at Flurmark Tzitas (Chitas) and dates it to the transition from Middle Cypriot to Late Cypriot I. He lists White Painted Handmade, White Slip and Base Ring pottery, and three loop pins with Cyprus Survey inventory numbers C.S. 2414/42.43.461.
