The project
Porphyrios Dikaios lists Louroujina, with Potamia and Kazaphani, among the temple-sites found by the Cyprus Museum in 1932 to 19351. Hermary says that sculptures discovered in 1932 and 1933 attest a sanctuary of a male deity near the modern village, and he cites a limestone head of Heracles in the Cyprus Museum (1933/IX-22/3) as evidence2. He also describes a rescue excavation by Dikaios at Louroujina, nothing of which is published, that produced a limestone incense burner with a very fragmentary dedication to Apollo (?), dated to 20 Rômaios of the second year of Septimius Severus, AD 194 (Cyprus Museum 1933/IV-9/2)2.
