The project
In 1965 and 1967 the Department of Antiquities recorded tombs in the locality Alonia, within the village of Linou1,2. The 1965 notice describes a newly discovered Middle Cypriot cemetery and a partly looted tomb with Red-Polished III and White Painted I-II pottery, find number CS 15071. A footnote there names MM. M. Loulloupis and A. Christodoulou as excavators of most of the tombs described, and the Linou tombs carry no formal tomb numbers1,2. In 1967 a large tomb produced pottery from Red-Polished II, assigned there to the Early Bronze Age, to White Slip I, assigned to the Late Bronze Age; the notice illustrates a Red-Polished III jug, 23.5 cm high, with crudely drawn incisions, find number CS 16392. The 1965 report states that objects with a CS number are kept in the premises of the Archaeological Research Section1.
