The project
James R. Carpenter of Kent State University excavated a Middle Bronze Age settlement at Kalokhorio-Khalandhrika, a short distance inland from Morphou Bay1. Helena (Laina) Wylde Swiny recalls the team digging at Kalokhorio Khalandrikas in the spring of 1974, before the coup and the Turkish invasion that followed2. Stuart Swiny reports that Carpenter was forced to abandon the excavation that summer because of the Turkish invasion1. Where the finds went is not recorded.
