The project
Road-levelling on the Nicosia-Famagusta road in summer 1962 exposed tombs about one mile east of Angastina, and the Department of Antiquities took them over1. Five tombs of a Late Cypriot cemetery were reported, with Late Cypriot pottery, Mycenaean vases, Rude Style kraters (two with animal friezes), a Monochrome Apliki bowl and a deer antler1. Theodossiadou discusses cylinder seals from Tombs 1 and 2, dating the Tomb 2/48 context to LC IIB-C by its pottery and the Tomb 1/237 cylinder, which shows a drinking scene, to LC II2. Later literature cites a 1964 report by V. Karageorghis titled "A Late Cypriote Tomb at Angastina"3.
