Description:

Head of a large terracotta statue of a male wearing with a diadem decorated with schematic flowers(?); probably a priest or a votary; handmade, coils visible inside the head; cylindrical head with a pointed nose (nostrils incised); bulbous almond-shaped eyes set within recessed eye-sockets, slightly ridged at the top; applied ears with concave interior; prominent chin; the diadem consists of an applied strip of ridged clay, onto which have been attached a line of small clay pellets; made of reddish-buff clay with traces of black painted decoration on the face (remains of a beard on the right side of face); the plugged assembly hole on the top of the head is visible from the inside.
