Bichrome Female Figurine Jug

Pottery jug of bichrome-red ware with female figurine holding a pierced jug, serving as a spout, opposite the handle; ovoid body with long slim concave neck; high splaying base; vertical two ribbed handle from shoulder to just below rim; buff-cream clay with red slip; body of vase decorated with alternating bands of black and white paint; bands of black paint around the rim (inside and out), on the neck and at juncture of neck and body; chevron arrangement of parallel lines between vertical bands in black paint on handle; loop motive in black paint on either side of terminal of handle and body; figure is handmade with moulded face, paint mostly vanished; she wears a long dress extending to the simply moulded feet, and a cloak around the shoulders; head covered by conical cap with tresses of hair falling on each of the body as far the simply rendered breasts; her right hand extends to hand of spout in the form of a jug; jug has a pinched spout and bands of black paint on the rim and globular body; left hand rendered crudely as two 'digits' extends as far as stomach.
